Research progress of MnOx-, FeOx- and CuOx-based core-shell catalysts in NH3-SCR denitrification

Abstract
To improve the low-temperature activity and poisoning resistance of ammonia selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) denitrification catalysts, this review summarizes recent progress in the development of MnOx-, FeOx-, and CuOx-based core-shell catalysts. By systematically examining design strategies for core-shell architectures, we emphasize the role of the shell layer in protecting active sites, tuning redox properties, and enhancing interfacial synergy. The findings reveal that the performance enhancement stems mainly from the suppression of sulfate deposition, effective generation of oxygen vacancies, and rational modulation of surface acidity enabled by the shell structure. The introduction of a core-shell configuration significantly promotes low-temperature catalytic activity, widens the operating temperature window, and improves resistance to H2O and SO2. The core-shell structure is recognized as an effective strategy for constructing high-performance SCR catalysts. However, challenges such as complex synthesis procedures and insufficient long-term anti-poisoning stability still persist. This work offers a theoretical basis and technical reference for the further development of high-performance core-shell catalysts.
